ABOUT BRIGHTSTONE
Brightstone is an individualized, young adult transitional program, located in Gainesville, Ga, which is an hour north east of Atlanta nestled in the beautiful, North Georgia mountains. We are not a campus or facility, but rather a community integrated, coaching and mentoring model serving neurodiverse young men and women ages 18 to 30. Our clients typically arrive feeling unmotivated, frustrated and even defeated due to their inability to conform to family, interpersonal, social, academic and vocational expectations.
Our dedicated and knowledable team offers daily guidance, support and accountabillity for each client’s individualized, personal growth plan. The path towards sustainable independence requires helping each individual increase their self-awareness, build self-confidence, mature emotionally and socially, gain life skills and empowerment for intrinsic motivation. The over arching goal is to equip clients with dulicatable skills and strategies that will allow the highest level of indendence possible.
Our Clients
Brightstone Transitions believes all young adults are unique. We believe no young adult shares the same background or issues, however, many do share certain characteristics. We believe that each young adult is equipped with abilities regardless of a diagnosis that may label as a disability.
Our clients are young men and women, ranging in age from 18-30 who desire to be accepted and crave an independent life but have been challenged due to overwhelming anxiety, slow processing speed, lack social acuity, feelings of defeat, fear of failure, self-limiting beliefs and generally don’t feel they “fit in”. We see a variety of diagnosis: ADHD, ADD, OCD (mild), NLD, LD, or Autism Spectrum Disorder Level and often have multiple diagnosis.
Our clients are high-functioning, bright, and typically anxious in new situations. They tend to struggle socially and/or academically, and haven’t learned the life skills necessary to be successful. Our clients are capable of success, but have been unable to achieve/maintain that success. Many have failed to “launch” and often appear unwilling or unable to achieve the milestones established by their peers.
Our clients often come to Brightstone Transitions feeling frustrated and defeated by their inability to keep up with family and societal expectations. Providing our clients with a change in environment, an opportunity to discover their abilities, and an environment that allows them to not fear failure but to push beyond the fear, empowers the individual to reach their potential personally, socially, vocationally, and academically. These feelings of accomplishment are the catalyst that allows them to achieve their goals, proficiency in life skills and live independent, successful lives.
In the nearly ten years of Brightstone, our belief and immersive approach is that independence is gained through hands on experience. Our philosophy, Independence Through Application, means we move beyond the typical program-centered approach and into applying learned skills in real life situations in real-time with guidance from their team of coaches. Through this style of learning, our clients feel more confident in their ability to seek and obtain employment, become invloved in the community through volunteerism, enroll in college or learn a trade, seek healthy relationships, find special hobbies and interests, but most importantly, they experince what it means to be truly self-sufficient.
